Jane's respec went well - boy, Stamina does make all the difference, doesn't it? Picked up Tough, although I only end up using it in about half my battles, maybe less. Got a new costume, and aura - group of friends helped me whirl through the missions. There were people everywhere, zipping off to fight monkeys, Freaks, whatnot....just about spent my time trailing from zone to zone, waiting for the ambushes. You know, they could move a little faster, know what I mean? It's annoying to be standing out in the street, checking your watch, waiting for a bunch of Rikti who obviously decided to stop off at Starbucks before showing up for an ambush. If it even is an ambush, when you know, and they know you know, it's coming. Jane's snazzy new costumes ( behind the cut ) |

Finally respecced Jane the other day. Mainly minor changes - dropped hover for air superiority; dropped quickness (since I had swift) and picked up kick, which eventually will lead me to tough and weave. Dropped combat jumping for focused senses, and that frees up another pool power. Which...I may end up not taking, but it's nice to have the option. I do notice that I don't run quite so fast, but it's nice having the extra attacks, especially another one that'll knock foes down. It's the closest scrappers come to crowd control. Was worried I'd make some horrendous mistake during the respec - I have a buddy who respecced, and forgot to take sufficient attacks. Now he's desparately looking for a successful respec tf (cause, wen you really need it, you can't find one). I think he's fought half a dozen ones that didn't pan out. Have only fought with Jane for about 4 hours since her respec, but everything seems to be working ok. Run a little low on endurance sometimes, but figure that's just the nature of the beast. Got the Winter Lord badge the other day, really for just running up late and taking a couple of swings. Oddly enough, I find the snowballs can be useful for pulling. Go figure. |

Been playing a lot this weekend (although not seemingly advancing in experience, grrr). Good news: finished a story arc and got a badge, bad news: it's the goofy PxxWxxNned, or whatever. I like badge titles like Dauntless, or Blue Shield, or Sociopathicly Violent. Did the mission this morning where you get to wear the Freakshow armor! I didn't realize this one was still in the game. I would mention it to friends who have been playing longer than I have, only to get blank stares. Anyway, here's Jane in her full glory ( Read more... )
Been reading up on scrappers, since Jane is in respec-range. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be glad to hear them. She's a MA/SR scrapper, and she's 24. I figure I must be making mistakes (not big ones, just odd ones) like still using Brawl as part of her fight sequence, and having a variety of enhancments on each power, rather than stacking the same ones. Here's a look at her current makeup: ( Read more... ) I never picked up focused senses, for example. Is that unforgivable?Current Mood: chipper

Look what Jane did!
Jane's 24, so obviously she didn't just rush out and get a cape. Her normal outfit is a rather utilitarian camo number, so the cape didn't seem to fit. But then I decided that she could put the cape on her "party dress". Really, I just wanted to see what the whole cape process is like. And, it was fairly easy. The back-and-forthing with the contacts was time-consuming (honestly, more people in Paragon City need cellphones). I happened to run into Lady Dee in a store, and asked her if the door mission was doable solo. She said yes, for a scrapper, if I "fought smart". I told her I didn't know if "fighting smart" and "scrapper" went together in the same sentence, but darn it, I'd try anything once! I was fortunate to get the Lost, and not the Rikti, which would have made the final battle harder, since the Rikti port more of themselves in. Bless Practiced Brawler, because it made me invulnerable to the Anathema's mental attacks. I'm really looking forward to 30, and the available effects.Current Mood: accomplished

So I'm teamed up the other day with a blaster, a rl good friend of mine. And we're in the mission, peering around the corner at a bunch of bad guys. And he says, "How do you want to handle this?" And I say, "I'm a scrapper - I want to run right into the middle and start kicking ass!" I mean - he knows what class I am - isn't that obvious? We scrappers are not ones for the higher planning and strategizing skills.Current Mood: Exuberant

Took Atomic Kate, my emp/rad defender (she's 9 now) into the Hollows the other night. Got lucky to get with a really good group (Super Lady, and Inferno28, and Cold Steal, and Fell Raven, and, um....one other tanker). So we did about 2 street sweeps, and a couple of door missions, when Inferno suggested we do the Frostfire mission, which I and Fell had never done. I was looking forward to it, since I'd heard it was, excuse the pun, cool. It turns our getting to the mission is more dangerous than the mission itself, at least 3 of us face-planted in the dirt on the way there. The mission itself is pretty typical (thugs, office building) but the ice was a novel touch. We spent 15 or 20 minutes just sliding around on the ice. Especially the big half-pike near the end. Beating Frostfire took only a few minutes and was pretty anti-climatic. Earlier in the day, spent a little time playing Taxibot 3. Got a few small tips from passengers, and one big honkin' one from a passerby. One way that CoH differs from EQ is that there's only so much you can buy. You can only use certain levels of enhancments, and there's not bank to store things in, so you don't want to fill up on enhancements you can't use for levels and levels. My taxibot is only level 7, but has something like 400,000 influence (and isn't that the silliest name for money ever? I mean, why not call them Paragon Dollars, or pounds, or pesos?) So, I guess I'll just have to keep saving money until I get to 20, and I can at least splurge on neat costume that's not in some combination of yellow and gold.

Took a few screencaps of taxibot 3 last time I had her out. She's been working the Hollows most of the time. It's fairly busy there, between the ports and the heals. Still only 3 or 4 of us, I think, on Pinnacle. Pictures are behind the cut. ( Read more... )

Jane Quick just racked up her last Halloween badge - the Echo...ehcoi...ec....Big Pumpkin! Didn't think I'd get that one, since I'd mainly been soloing the trick-or-treating, or working in a small group. But got in with a really good group. 3 defenders, 1 controllers, blaster, another scrapper and me (scrapper. We just mowed through the stand door-baddies. Most of us finished up our badges on the door baddies. Then our spare defender started scouting for the Great Pumpkin. He led us to one, but our group got in too late to rack up enough damage to get badge credit. So the group did some more door stuff, while the defender (Lapin) and I flew off to try and spot the next Pumpkin. And I spotted him! I hovered over while the group headed in, and another group started gathering, too. Battle was furious, and pretty fast. I doubt he lasted 7 minutes, with about 10 of us whaling on him. Both groups got badges for the kill. These Halloween badges and events were very cool. I think CoH did a great job, on the badges, the whole trick-or-treating concept, and the creatures themselves.

Did my first stint for taxibots on Pinnacle today - got Recall Friend about 6 days ago, but haven't had a chance to play since. Camped just inside the Hollows and did about 7 fares back. Including one guy twice. Told him I should get him a punchcard - the 6th fare is free! It was neat session - two guys, Life Force and Mohrath were healing everyone, and someone else (didn't catch the name) was bubble-izing.

Logged in Jane Quick/Guardian and caught up with some SG friends to do an outdoor instanced mission. This is only about the third one I've done, so they're still kind of exciting. This was a kill-everything-that-moves one, fighting against the CoT and the Oranbegans (yeah, new to me too) from Another Dimension. You can say that in the same tones announcers used to say Outer Space....basically, it sounds impresive without having to commit to an exact location. So, tally for the mission: Deaths:1 Badges earned:3 Yay! Yes, I am still foolishly pleased to earn a new badge. I earned the Tough badge for taking 100,000 in damage (because, honestly, no one will take you seriously as a scrapper without it); the Frontline badge (for preventing the war between the CoT and the O'gans), and the "25 badges" badge. Yay me!
